Bring the sunshine back with Vitamin D+K2

The mornings are getting gloomy and grey, so what are the best ways to keep your mood, energy and immunity going through the Autumn and Winter months – and bring the sunshine back to your body.

The reason that our Vitamin D levels drop in Autumn is due to the strength of the sun rays reduces and we all spend more time indoors. It is estimated that 75% of adults and teens in USA are deficient in Vitamin D and I suspect this is similar in the UK. Having good levels of vitamin D is shown to reduce cancers, lung disease and diabetes and we all know that it’s essential to boost immunity and keep winter flu and colds at bay.

Firstly it’s important that Vitamin D is combined with vitamin K2. The K2 helps to get the Vitamin D to the right places in the body and on its own Vit D is linked to artery hardening and excessive calcification. (Vitamin K also supports good blood clotting so if you are taking anti-coagulants please check with your GP before taking)

Also make sure you have enough magnesium, as otherwise the Vitamin D doesn't get taken up by the body – it remains inert in the system. The most effective way to absorb magnesium is to have Epsom salt baths a couple of times a week. Just buy a big tub of organic salts and use these generously as a fantastic way to relax and detox.

Finally I take Vitamin D all winter until the sun is bright enough again for me to be wearing shorts and exposing lots of skin to sunlight for at least 15 minutes a day – fingers crossed for April time in London!

The ideal supplement is an Oral Spray, as research shows there is better absorption through the mouth, and ideally a liposomal vitamin which is more expensive but is more bioavailable. So look for a Vitamin D + K2 Oral Spray and use as directed
